Continuum Terms of Use

Welcome to CONTINUUM on epistles.xyz — a people-funded commons and live gift / sustain economy. By using Continuum (including Pour, Beacon, Signal Gates, All-in, stations, ledger views, or related APIs), you agree to these Terms of Use.

NO PROMISES / NO GUARANTEES

1. What SYN is (and is not)

SYN (Sustain Units) is site credit for sustain, gifts, and social features on epistles.xyz. SYN is:

• Not money held in a bank account for you
• Not a security, investment, equity, profit share, dividend, or ownership interest in epistles.xyz or any operator
• Not a cryptocurrency or token offered for speculation or secondary-market trading
• Not a promise of financial return, appreciation, doubling, or cash value
• Not a deposit, savings product, or withdrawable earnings account

2. Tagline meaning — “SUSTAIN IS THE MAX REWARD”

The Continuum tagline “SUSTAIN IS THE MAX REWARD” means network continuance / product sustain — keeping signals alive, filling the commons, and participating in the gift economy. It does not mean a monetary maximum payout, jackpot, interest rate, or personal payday to users. Continuance scores measure product participation, not investment performance.

3. Charge vs Beacon

• Charge — spendable site credit for product actions (boost, like, share, subscribe, pour/tithe, All-in, and other Continuum moves) only as product rules allow. Charge is not a bank balance and is not redeemable for cash unless Terms are later formally amended and required licenses are obtained (none today).
• Beacon — outward-only credit for pours into the commons. Beacon is contractually non-redeemable for cash forever under these Terms. Cash-out of Beacon is intentionally disabled as promise protection for the operator and users. Beacon never withdraws to money, cards, bank accounts, or third parties. Changing that would require a formal Terms amendment plus applicable licenses — not a UI toggle.

There is no promise of returns. Using Continuum can reduce or exhaust your Charge/Beacon balances under the product rules.

4. The Core — people-funded commons ledger

The Core is a people-funded commons ledger. It can be empty. Moves may disclose and apply:

• Tax (currently ~5% on many moves)
• Platform cut (currently ~2% on many moves)
• Caps (e.g. Beacon capacity tied to station / tithe rate)
• Bill (total debit including fees shown on the move)

Rates and costs may change; the Live Deck and ledger show current figures when you act. Disclosed fees are not a promise that value will grow.

5. Half-life, Signal Gates, All-in

• Half-life 48h — live burn windows close on a ~48-hour clock unless product rules say otherwise. When the clock ends, unmet goals can fail; chance burns with the window.
• Signal Gates — view milestones (e.g. 100 / 1k / 1M) that can unlock product effects; they are engagement mechanics, not investment thresholds or guaranteed unlocks of money.
• All-in — an optional feature stake of your own Charge into a burn window under stated rules. If the stated goal is met, an All-in refund means return of your own stake to Charge (minus any disclosed settle fee) — not house winnings or profit. If the goal is not met, you may lose your stake. All-in is framed as an optional feature stake inside Continuum product rules — not a casino, lottery, or gambling product marketed for wagering against the house, and not a path to guaranteed income.

6. Participation, stations, Worldbearer

There are no favors without participation. Station labels (High, Mid, Low, Zero, Strain, Worldbearer) and related load flags are in-product status for Continuum features (e.g. capacity, posting flags). They are not credit scores sold to third parties, lenders, employers, or data brokers, and they do not represent financial rank, wealth, or guaranteed privileges outside the product rules.

7. Payments (currently offline)

Card and cash payments for SYN are offline until the operator enables them under applicable licenses and regulations (trust gate), including counsel review of promise language. When enabled, payments will be processed by Stripe (or a successor processor). epistles.xyz never stores raw card numbers — checkout happens with the processor. Until then, any test Charge comes only from disclosed product seeds/faucets, not from card purchases. Enabling payments does not convert SYN into an investment or make Beacon redeemable.

8. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Continuum money-adjacent features (including any future paid SYN purchase, All-in, or Charge spending that could involve real-money acquisition). Prefer 18+ for anything involving payments or stakes.

9. Prohibited conduct

You may not: commit fraud; wash-trade or fake volume; manipulate ledgers, gates, views, or burns; run scams; abuse APIs; evade freezes; market Continuum as guaranteed income or an investment; or use Continuum to launder value. Violations can mean ledger reversal, account freeze, or removal.

10. Operator rights

The operator (epistles.xyz / site admin) may: freeze accounts; reverse or correct ledger entries for error, abuse, or fraud; close dead or abandoned carriers/windows; change rates, costs, and features with notice on-site; and refuse service. Continuum may be modified or discontinued. These rights exist in part to protect the commons and to avoid accidental promissory exposure.

11. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

CONTINUUM AND SYN ARE PROVIDED AS-IS AND AS-AVAILABLE, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND to the fullest extent permitted by law — including no warranty of title, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, and no warranty of any financial outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator and epistles.xyz are not liable for lost SYN balances, lost stakes, empty Core, expired half-life windows, downtime, data loss, or consequential damages arising from Continuum use. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; those limits apply only as far as law allows.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer law of your residence applies. Operator note: confirm this choice with counsel before relying on it.

13. Disputes & contact

For disputes or Continuum questions, contact the operator through Messages to Solid on epistles.xyz (or the site’s admin contact channel). Include your account display name and a clear description of the issue. Informal resolution first; nothing here waives rights you cannot waive by law.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use of Continuum after posting means you accept the updated Terms. Material payment-related or redemption-related changes (including any future attempt to make Beacon cash-redeemable) require formal amendment and will be highlighted; Beacon cash-out remains disabled unless and until that happens under applicable law.
